November 4th - 5th, 2011

ABOUT

How do you move an entire city to action against injustice happening all around them? What if people can’t see the signs of human trafficking? or don’t know what to do about homelessness or undocumented immigrants? In 2009, staff of Volunteers in Action dreamed up the Denver Justice Conference in order to make a difference in their city.

The inaugural DJC happened on September 18, 2010 when people came from all over the city, the state and even neighboring states to the Zealous Love Social Justice Conference. Over 55 area churches sent delegates to the conference to be challenged by local experts on the topics of Immigration, Environmental Concern, Human Trafficking and Domestic Poverty.

With so many area churches and delegates unified around a desire to respond and address injustice in Denver, conference planners became eager to see this event continue. In December 2010 the conference was officially named the “Denver Justice Conference.” The Denver Justice Conference is an annual event brought about by a collaboration of diverse churches, non-profits and other faith-based ministries. DJC will build up and encourage current advocacy and justice efforts, as well as continue to bring awareness about pressing issues our city faces.

Mark your calendars for Denver Justice Conference November 4-5, 2011. Dynamic speakers, pertinent organizations, and open and engaging dialogue will all focus on this year’s theme: “Meeting Needs, Empowering People and Advocating for Change.”

Don’t wait until November to get involved here in Denver with issues that cannot wait. This website is a resource to cultivate the assets of our city and make yourself aware of injustices happening around you. Check out other justice events. Read up on lists of books and films all about your area of interest. See which organizations are already working on the issues that are close to your heart.
